Kedit is an easy to use text editor and more. Kedit provides you with the capability to manipulate a highly formatted and consistent text file and convert its contents in a variety of ways. In the examples I have included in this blog page I have Kedit macro files that when executed against my Family Tree GEDCOM extracts each individual in the file and reformats their data into files that then can be loaded into SQL. You can look at any of those macro files and use my code to help you understand Kedit as well as a foundation for your own code on your own computer.
You can obtain a copy of Kedit for evaluation, and use from Mansfield Software here. Included is the documentation, reference material and lots of other information to assist you.
Another source of information and documentation is located at Rex Swain’s Summary.
